| Program Notes | David Stock writes: In September 1998, the Cuarteto Latinoamericano gave the premiere of my FOURTH STRING QUARTET (1997) at the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh. I realized immediately that I wanted to eventually prepare a string orchestra version of the second movement, just as Samuel Barber+s ADAGIO FOR STRINGS grew out of his quartet+s slow movement. I+m very grateful to the Western Slope Music Festival for giving me the opportunity to make this transcription. The FOURTH STRING QUARTET and YIZKOR are both dedicated to the memory of composer John Richard Ronsheim, my wonderful colleague at Antioch College from 1970-1974; therefore YIZKOR, the Hebrew name for memorial service, seemed an appropriate title.
