| Program Notes | The Little Engine is based on an old favorite children's story "The Little Engine That Could." Timbre is demonstrated in this work by inviting the audience to participate in making sounds like a steam engine driven train as the music is played. The audience will be divided into three sections; one will make a "steam" sound by rubbing their hands together; one will make a "choo-choo" sound, showing the engine chugging along; and one will make the sound of the bell, saying "woo, woo." |
