It is a substantial four-movement work of more than twenty minutes duration, of identifiably strong rhythm and harmonic character. The composer has written: "Using the Brahms Horn Trio as a model, with its rich combination of a string instrument, a brass instrument and piano, my Trio alternates melodic material between the two solo instruments with the piano providing a resonant accompaniment. Recorded by principal players from the New York Philharmonic on a series entitled "New York Legends" (Cala Records; CACD0516). |
