| Program Notes | It was during his residency with the Seattle Symphony that Stock composed DRIVE TIME. In the composer+s own words, -I decided to take a break and go to the movies, directing my thoughts away from composition. Something during the film (neither the story or the film score) however, triggered an idea for a new orchestral work-one totally unexpected!+ The resulting work, completed in December of 1996, is intended to convey -an updated version of music usually programmed on public radio during the morning and evening time slots-hence the title.+ The world premiere of DRIVE TIME occurred on August 8, 1998, performed by the National Repertory Orchestra. --Jonathan Neiderhiser (appeared in Duquesne Symphony program, 3/4/99) |
