Title NameTerzetto in C, Op. 74/ B. 148
Marketing CopyWritten over the course of a few days in January, 1887, Antonín Dvo?ák's (1841-1904) TERZETTO in C, Op. 74/B. 148 was composed for two violinists who happened to be living in the same house as the Dvo?ák family. The composer's intention was to have the two men, Josef Kruis and Jan Pelikán, play the violin parts while Dvo?ák performed on the viola. The work proved to difficult for Kruis, which prompted Dvo?ák to write an easier string trio, MINIATURES (Drobnosti), Op. 75a/B. 149 for the men. Dvo?ák also created an arrangement for violin and piano, ROMANTIC PIECES (4), Op. 75/B. 150. The TERZETTO premiered on March 30, 1887, in Prague, performed by Karel Ond?í?ek, Jan Buchal, and Jaroslav Š?astný. Movements: 1. Introduzione. Allegro ma non troppo; 2. Larghetto; 3. Scherzo. Vivace — Trio. Poco meno mosso; 4. Tema con variazioni. Poco Adagio—Molto. Reprint edition.
