Program NotesThe Cantares Argentinos were commissioned in 1992 by the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the direction of Roger Wagner. The world premiere took place at the Los Angeles Music Center, and then Roger Wagner took his chorus on tour all over Europe, including England, France, Germany, Italy, and the former USSR.

Roger Wagner kept performing the piece in its original version all over the United States and he repeated performances at the Los Angeles Music Center. It was widely received by the audiences. --Lalo Schifrin
