Each volume, five of which were dedicated to women including his friend Clara Schumann, consists of six songs of varying mood and character. This is the third book of arrangements for violoncello and piano in a four-volume collection by Alfred Piatti. Included in Book 2: Op. 38 (Nos. 13-16, No. 18); Op. 53 (Nos. 19-20, Nos. 22-24).
