| Program Notes | David Stock writes: In 1985 I wrote a short piece called BACK TO BASS-ICS, which can be played either by string quartet plus bass or string orchestra. In fact, it has always been done in the latter version. For several years I wanted to add more movements, each featuring a different member of the string family, The opportunity presented itself in 1993, with a commission from the Lehigh Chamber Orchestra, Donald Speith, Music Director. They gave the premiere of the full four-movement work in Fall 1993. -Viola d+amore+ features the violas in a love song; -Jam+n+ Celli+ gives the cello section a lightly swinging waltz; and -Fiddle-D-D+ lets the violins fiddle away like mad, stressing the octave D-D.
