"Siegfried's Rhine Journey" takes place at the end of the Prologue and serves as an orchestral interlude leading into Act I. The music depicts the new lovers Siegfried and Brünnhilde awakening together on the bank of the river Rhine, then Brünnhilde sending Siegfried off to seek new adventure.
