Give and Take for soprano and chamber ensemble was written in 1975 for Edith Anne Diggory, a superb young soprano, who was at that time a student in voice at Indiana University. Since that time she has matured into one of the truly exciting young singers working in contemporary music. The poems used in these settings where chosen from among the excellent poetry of Ms. Diggory's brother, Terence Diggory.
