The Frog Who Became a Prince is the operatic telling of an old tale with a new twist. Base on Elinor Lander Horwitz's children's story, "The Strange Story of the Frog Who Became a Prince," the opera's theme is that of "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." And in this case, the eyes are those of Morton, a happy-go-lucky frog who lives on a lily-pad at the edge of the pond. Conceived as a work for audiences of all ages, The Frog Who Became a Prince is high theatrical musical entertainment. Frog uses pantomime, dance, magic spells, special effects, and fanciful singing to tell its tale. Exaggerated, oversized props and modern, new-wave costumes heighten the drama and add to the fun. --Edward Barnes

Review
"...The crowd, mostly of elementary-age pupils...loved every moment of this jewel of an opera..." --Francis Church, Richmond News Leader "...second-graders and fourth-graders laughed wildly form the moment that Michael Dash, the frog, hopped on stage, flicked his tongue, and sang in falsetto about the virtues of being an amphibian. They gasped in delight at the sight of the witch Pamikins's giant foam-rubber peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich. And they clamped their hands over thier ears during some of the high notes...[the children] clapped and shouted 'Bravo!' like seasoned opera-goers when the show was over..." <BR>--Stacey Burling, The Virginian-Pilot
