Commissioned by the Museum of Mathematics in New York for its grand opening gala benefit, the music is based on a Native American story. The violin portrays Coyote and the piano represents everything else, especially the stars themselves. It is recommended that the story which is included with the music be told to the audience before the work is performed to enhance the enjoyment and comprehension of the piece.

Coyote Scatters the Stars was commissioned by MoMath (the Museum of Mathematics in New York) for its grand opening gala benefit on 12.12.12 in New York City. The piece was premiered by violinist Mark Steinberg and pianist Marija Stroke. The music of Coyote Scatters the Stars is based on a Native American story. The violin portrays Coyote and the piano represents everything else in the story, especially the stars themselves. It is recommended that the story (written in my own version below) be told to the audience before the work is performed. It is an essential aid in comprehending the piece and makes it much more fun.
